For the first time since 1972, the Boston Bruins are champions of the NHL. This five disc set documents the B's 4 victories in the Stanley Cup Final and game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final versus Tampa Bay.
Each game is shown via its original American brodcast on either Versus or NBC. The quailty of the video is what's to be expected from games that were played in 2011. Save for the occasional "cut" in the video (where the scene goes black for a quarter or so second, most noteably in game 6 when H. Sedin misses an open net), the video is of average DVD quality. Nothing terrible but nothing special. The audio is the same way; it doesn't jump out of the speakers at you but it is passable. I did however notice that during the Cup celebration in game 7 the audio seemed very quite, almost to the point where I checked if my T.V. was on mute. Past that, the audio seemed fine (and, as has happened in the past, they didn't bother cutting out the swearing near the end, which keeps some authenticity).
Overall, this is a pretty good set. I would have liked a complete finals set like we saw with Detroit in 2008 so we get to see the other games and what went on in between victories. It would have also been nice if they included game 7 against Montreal, but the Tampa game (the best game of the playoffs in my opinion) is a welcome edition. I'll deduct one star do to the audio problem in the fifth disc and the infrequent video problems as mentioned above, leaving it with four stars. If you're a fan of the Bruins or a serious fan of hockey, I recommend this set.
