5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect women's gift Jun 8 2011

I've always loved the NKJV of the Bible.. it gets rid of the "thees" and "thous" but yet retains some of the majesty of the King James language.

This edition of the Woman's Study Bible from Thomas Nelson is outstanding in several ways. First, the leather cover is absolutely beautiful.. Next, it has a number of portraits of biblical women included in it. It also contains articles by respected Bible teachers Anne Graham Lotz, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Kathy Troccoli and others.

I actually got this Bible for a good friend of mine and she absolutely loves it. One of the best, if not the best women's study Bibles currently available.

Thanks Thomas Nelson for an outstanding resource!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! Aug 10 2012

This is a very nice Bible, and you can't beat the Amazon price (at least not when I bought mine)! I love that it specifically addresses concerns and situations that women, as daughters, single ladies, wives, mothers, grandmothers, widows, etc., face throughout life.

Just a few months ago, I started regularly attending church again (after a 7-year hiatus), and thought that the renewed attendance at a new church body warranted a new Bible. But I was specifically looking for one that would really help me delve deep into the Word. For this reason, the idea of a study Bible was appealing. While searching for a Bible, I stumbled upon this one.

This Bible has so much to offer for someone who looking to seriously study the Word to strengthen their walk or to learn about God for the first time as a newly born-again Christian. In addition to the perfect Word of God, The Woman's Study Bible features many tools that are placed throughout it to help "explain difficult passages, idiomatic phrases, and obscure words" and to "help identify places and people", to offer in-depth descriptions of the women of the Bible, perspective articles that shed light on the significance of the Bible, charts and maps that help us to visualize the places and events that the passages describe, beautiful inspirational quotations, and a brief concordance of important words.

I love the NKJV because it offers some of the same classic elegance of the KJV without all of the "thees" and "thous", which makes it a little easier to read and study. I'm a big proponent of using several different translations (KJV, Amplified, NASB, NIV, The Message, NLT, etc. also (especially) Hebrew and Greek if you can) in order to help study and understand the Word, but I prefer for my "main" reading and study Bible to be in the NKJV translation - just my preference.

The only drawback is that it is not a "red-letter" Bible, but very few (affordable) study Bibles are. The print is also fairly small (because it is the personal size). It might cause strain to the eyes if you were to spend several hours at a time reading, but it's not too small that it would cause strain for "light reading" of an hour or less.

All in all, I love this Bible and would (and have) absolutely recommend it to any woman wanting a new Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice size and footnotes are great. Mar 23 2013

I bought my Husband the MacArthur Study Bible and was going to buy myself one also, but then I figured it would be better to get different versions since I can always "steal " his for reference. Anyway I am happy with this Bible, love the cover, the size, size of print, ect. I can see if eyesight is an issue then the print color on the notes might be hard to read, but for the average person shouldn't be a problem.
