Yes, it's another group of five young white boys making dance-influenced pop that makes the girls scream. Not only is the composition of this group familiar, their sound is almost a clone of fellow teenybopper dreams the Backstreet Boys. It's probably not surprising, considering that they share the same manager (who had all five members of '80s preteen scream machine New Kids on the Block as the best men at his wedding, natch). The resemblance is a little too close for comfort, however, with almost every track here mirroring one on the Backstreet Boys album. From the radio hit "I Want You Back" and the sugary harmonizing on ballads like "God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" to the one-step-forward, two-steps-back approach to sex appeal on "Giddy Up," 'N Sync (or their producers) have crafted the perfect balance of catchy pop ditties and swoon-inducing slow jams. --Rebecca Wallwork --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I absolutely love *NSYNC's 1998 debut album *NSYNC. These guys are so truly talented and that shows on this album. This album is the most "bubblegum pop" sounding I suppose, but you know what....who cares!!! If the music is good who cares about the musical genre just enjoy it! This is GREAT music. And this comes from a person who happens to love music ranging from Paul McCartney to Elton John to Fleetwood Mac to Will Smith! This is a truly talented group and I highly recommend giving them a chance and listening to their music. My personal favorites on the album are Giddy Up, I Drive Myself Crazy, You Got It, and of course all the singles. Give this album a chance...it's WONDERFUL!!!Their album "Home for Christmas" came out in 1998 and is very enjoyable as well so be sure to give that a listen. And make sure to check out the phenomenal, recording breaking, amazing albums " No Strings Attached" and "Celebrity" also by *NSYNC. These guys are the best artists out there today and there record breaking historical success only proves how well loved they and their music are. Get the album that started it all....you won't regret it!

This is the self-titled debut album from 'N Sync, who arrived in 1998 alongside many other New Kids On The Block-inspired combos such as Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees. All of these acts are lacking artistic merits, but 'N Sync is the worst of the lot as there are only two members of the group that can sing lead (and we're talking poor, nasally sounding leads, like those of the dreadful Justin Timberlake). The other three members can only sing harmony, and are basically only there because "hey, we need five members, just like our heroes in NKOTB!".
What does this album have to offer that groups like NKOTB and Menudo haven't done before? I'll tell you: NOTHING! Their only purpose is that of a tribute group for NKOTB - the only way these guys were able to make it off of the tribute circuit is because of their connections, and because I suppose they're photogenic ... women find them attractive for some reason.
We have to hold media outlets such as MTV responsible for their success. It is thanks to them that acts that are all image and no substance (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Hilary Duff and all the boy groups) have been able to succeed in the industry, while so many talented bands and artists out there are going unnoticed and have to struggle to receive a recording contract. All of these acts have nothing to offer other than sex appeal, yet the promotional muscle of MTV managed to turn them all into multi-platinum superstars.
Going back to the album: It's the same combination of cheesy up-tempo dance pop and tepid cringe-inducing love songs with dated synth-heavy arrangements that we've become accustomed to with the teen pop genre. It's all as infectious and catchy as a commercial advertisement - and it's equally as empty-headed as well.

Here's what I think about this cd
This is the best Nysnc cd they made yet. It has ballads like god must have spent a little more time on you. They have beughtiful voices. I think lance, chris, and the other nysnc folks go single like justin timberlake. I own there 3 most populare cd's. I recomend this to everybody who has either nysnc's pop or no string's attatched. This is a wonderful cd to listening to without being scared to hear bad words or any thing innopropriate. That way parents and kids will be happy. At first you might not think that this cd has alot of good songs on it but it does. My favorites are tearin up my heart,I just wanna be with you, here we go, you got it, i need love, i want you back, I drive myself crazy, and crazy for you. But i like all the songs. Please buy this cd because it is a good cd and don't listen to the people who write a sentence saying how much they hate it because it really is a good cd. PLEASE BUY NYSNC CD'S AND PRODUCTS. That's all i have to say. BUY IT PLEASE!!!!!

This album not only makes me want to [jump], it makes me sincerely frightened. This is what pop music has become? It took only thirty-one years for pop music to devolve from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a brilliant, painstakingly executed musical journey, which took 129 days just to record the manufactured, monotonous, computer-altered N'SYNC? (forgive me for not adding that brilliant, painstakingly executed asterisk.) As I am writing this in 2003, things have definitely not gotten better. We actually have shows about this kind of musical ..., so we can watch more of this kind of [tune] as its being made. Where will we be in five more years?
This is a message to all aspiring musicians who hope to get lucky, and make music with your hands and soul, instead of with a computer and striking good looks. Sure, liking real bands who made real music, such as the Beatles, Led Lepplin, Queen or the Doots may get you some pretty funny looks. But please don't despair. You are our only hope.

If you're like me and cringe everytime you hear the word *NSYNC on the radio then we have this self-titled debut to thank. Greedy record company Jive Records decided to clone the Backstreet Boys and instead of using shared-vocals, only Justin and JC sing (JC having the better voice). All the other "group" members just stand around or dance and become eye candy for the girls. "I want you back" was a favorite of mine when it first came out but it gets boring after repitition. Justin's extremely nasal voice ruins the beautiful ballad "God Must Have Spent." This CD is complete disposable garbage and should be left on the shelf, or better yet... taken OFF The shelf. I also love the fact that they're pretending to not be a fake band anymore like on their new disc "Celebrity." Everyone seems to forget that they're a pop band and that they're "R&B" now. Please, they're about as R&B as Ashanti. Please avoid at all costs and purchase something from the Backstreet Boys instead. Though their not one of my favorite groups of all time, at leased BSB shares all their vocals. Overall grade: F-
