From Library Journal
A cross between a reference book and an entertaining and informative sampling of important lives of this century, this is a compilation of obituaries and other writings about 50 pioneering figures of our time. The editors chose, a bit arbitrarily, people they thought were significant who had died since 1963. Creativity and political power determined many of the choices, which range from J. Edgar Hoover to Groucho Marx. Each entry contains a thorough obituary, and most contain selections about the subjectquotes, funeral descriptions, follow-up articles. Not unique information, but recommended for public and academic libraries. Pat Ensor, Cunningham Memorial Lib., Indiana State Univ., Terre Haute
