5.0 out of 5 stars Falco is Great, Sep 9 2001
By
This review is from: Nachtflug (Audio CD)
Nachtflug is yet another awesome album from Falco. All the songs have their charm and are timeless. Titanic opens the "Falco" experience with fluttering wind instruments and engaging beat, and Falco on an intercom. Without even knowing the title of the song you already get the feeling you're on the Titanic and you enjoying yourself. Just from that, you can tell Falco knew what he was doing. Falco continues with a completely different but great song "Monarchy Now". With a funky beat and dark chorus this song simply grooves. Falco continues the dark theme in "Dance Mephisto" and strangely gives you the jitters to Tango. In "Phycos" Falco get back into his funk and gets jamming with some awesome arrangement between the background singers, the guitar, and the synthesizers. The words and music have perfect harmony in "Scandal". In "Yah Vibration" Falco shows he can do Reggae also. I'll say he does it better than the overrated "Bob Marley". "Propaganda" gets you chugging with it's Latin rythum. "Time" makes you focus on how you can make a difference in the world. Only Falco has the power to do that. Finally you're brought to tears with Falco's truley moving "Cadillac Motel". Yet, Falco, get's you back on your feet with the smooth light song "Nachtflug". With so many emotions and original themes, it's impossible to overlook this album or even criticize it. Any self-respecting person should buy this cd now. Like all of Falco's albums, it's a masterpiece.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nachtflug, Dec 1 1999
By Gabriel - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Nachtflug (Audio CD)
All in all the cd is pretty good with the exception of two songs "Cadillac Hotel" and "scandal". In the case of Cadillac Hotel", it's as if he wants to make a Jeanny 3. He can never replace Jeanny. Coming Home was a terrible flop. He didn't incarnate the same emotions he had in Jeanny. I listen to the song almost every day. He seems to be singing on the exterior and not from the heart. As for Scandal, It just become tiresome to have the same yeah yeah chorus after each refrain. In a number of his songs in the album, he borrows lyrics from Der Kommisar and implants them in two songs in the album. There, I think Falco lacks imagination. But I admire this album because he sticks to his formula. In out of the Dark, I think he was trying to be something he was not. I especially like "Titanic","Dance Mephisto", and "Propaganda". But it's still very far away from his much better albums like Einzelhaft. For me, Falco has a definite style which will never be able replaced. But in the end, there really isn't a bad song in this album. Nachtflug is a very typical Falco song. It's a very raw song without the Hollywood effects he used in "Emotional".

5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome effort, Jun 26 2008

I think of Falco's cds and in some ways I wish his cds had more songs. Nachtflug has 10 songs. The cd is a classic and it'd be kinda nice if it had 13 or 14 songs. On the other hand I guess I can't complain because the whole cd is hit worthy imo. You don't have any filler material. You know you're dealing with true talent if you can listen to a cd without thinking "This song is total filler material. Ugh, skip." Let me breakdown the tracks for ya.

1. Titanic--5 stars--This is one of the hottest songs Falco ever did imo.
2. Monarchy Now--4 stars
3. Dance Mephisto--4 stars
4. Psychos--5 stars--amazingly catchy
5. Skandal--4 stars
6. Yah - Vibration--5 stars
7. Propaganda--4 stars
8. Time--5 stars
9. Cadillac Hotel--5 stars
10. Nachtflug--3.5 stars
