Initially does not fit classic 32oz Nalgene bottle, keep trying Feb. 22 2011
By elder - Published on
Original review: The item description clearly says this is for 32oz wide mouthed Nalgene bottles and one is even pictured inside of the insulated pouch. However, none of the Nalgene bottles I have actually fit! They will go about 1/3 of the way without too much effort, but I was unable to get further than 2/3 even when pulling downward on the insulator and banging the bottle against a hard surface. If anyone has any secrets please let us know!

Update: I eventually was able to get the bottle into the insulator after sliding a butter knife between the bottle and insulator and tugging, twisting, pulling, and banging. Once you insert the bottle a couple times the insulator will stretch enough that you can use it without any tools or too much effort.

Very useful for cold weather Feb. 8 2010

I've always had the problem of keeping water thawed while winter camping. Water in Polartec and other bottles turn to ice unless they're in my sleeping bag all night. The insulated carrier keeps water liquid longer if just left outside in the snow, and I'm confident sleeping with it won't leak and ruin my down sleeping bag. The extra straps on the side are useful for attaching it to my pack while hiking to a campsite.

One note: it will only close on a wide-mouth 32 oz bottle. The top of Nalgene narrow mouth bottles are too high.

Does not fit! Sept. 11 2010

I am very disappointed with this product. It is impossible to get in and equally difficult to get out the bottle. It's way too small for the Nalgene wide mouth 32 oz bottle. I read a similiar customer review at [...]. Had I seen that review before purchasing this, I would not have done so. I need someone to tell me how to use this bottle carrier. I would definitely return this item if I could.

Not a thermos, but better than nothing. May 11 2013

This carrier has a large and strong zipper loop that makes it easy to open and close. The insulation keeps condensation from forming on the bottles when holding ice water. This isn't a vacuum bottle, but it keeps ice water cold for several hours in the Arizona if you keep it out of the sun.

After reading reviews saying that it does not fit Nalgene bottles I was skeptical. The facts are it fits original Nalgene bottles the colored ones are made of thicker material and the fit is either tight or does not go. I have several styles of Nalgene bottles and have experimented with them all. The main point is if you need to use this either to keep water cold or keep it from freezing it works great but you need to use the original Nalgene bottle or you will have troubles fitting. I kept my water warm all day in 8 degrees F while ice climbing.
