I enjoyed this concert a lot, mainly because it showed Nanci Griffith at her best. Some time ago I saw a concert of her performing in Ireland, and I was put off by that concert a lot. She was jumping around stage and trying to be something she's not and appeared very commercial, and the songs she sang were woeful (and I have to say her performance wasn't much better). I thought at the time, if this is going to be the Nanci of the future then I'll give up on her. This concert, thankfully, is nothing like the Irish one and shows her at her best, performing in a more gracious, traditional way. It is how I for one expect her to be. The filming, sound recording, lighting and general production of this concert was excellent. Nanci's performance was first rate. My only criticism is that the song selection could have been much better (many of the songs were disappointing), but that's my own personal beef and these songs may appeal more to others. Although I enjoyed this concert a lot, it does not rank as her best work on film - that goes to the "Other Voices, Other Rooms" concert, which has been captured on VHS but for some unfathomable reason has not been released on DVD. Why, does anyone know?
