Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nanny McPhee returns (DVD)
as with most sequels, this is not up to the same level as the original. The movie has a softer story line but still provides a good entertainment experience for the family just the same.

This review is from: Nanny McPhee returns (DVD)
Fortunately we didn't buy this one, but rather got it from the local library. The consensus amongst my three kids, thirteen and fourteen years old, is that this one is plain stupid. Spend your money on something else, like pet rocks...

Witty and Entertaining,
This review is from: Nanny McPhee returns (DVD)
Emma Thompson returns as the enigmatic Nanny McPhee in a charming new story set amidst wheatfields and sunshine in wartime England. Full of witty dialogue and colourful characters, this film follows Nanny McPhee's efforts to tame three spirited country children and their two equally feisty city cousins while their harried mother (Maggie Gyllenhaal) works to keep the farm and her shop in town while her husband is off at war. Cheerful 40s music, clever banter and entertaining sequences (synchronized swimming piglets, anyone?) kept us adults watching as intently as the children, even the second, third, fourth time round... And there are bittersweet moments as well so it's not all syrup. On the whole, another intelligent and delightful British film effort and 100 minutes well-spent.
