Book Description

Jun 7 2011
In 1938, just after publication of his all-time best-seller Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill reveals that he broke the Devil’s Code, forcing him to confess his secrets. The resulting manuscript — Outwitting the Devil — proved so controversial, it was hidden for more than seventy years. Now Sharon Lechter brings us this important book, annotating and editing it for a contemporary audience. Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Hill digs deep to identify the greatest obstacles we face in reaching our personal goals — including fear, procrastination, anger, and jealousy — as tools orchestrated by the Devil himself. These hidden methods of control can lead us to ruin, and Hill reveals the seven principles of good that will allow us to finally triumph over them and succeed. Fascinating, provocative, and empowering, Outwitting the Devil shows how to create your own path to success, harmony, and fulfillment in an age of uncertainty and fear. “My simple faith is this: If we are created in God’s image, then we were born to create, and to create is to prosper. [This] previously unpublished Napoleon Hill manuscript... I’ve read it and recommend it.” – Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes magazine

About the Author

Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) was born in a one-room cabin on the Pound River in Wise County, Virginia. He began his writing career at age 13 as a "mountain reporter" for small town newspapers and went on to become America's most beloved motivational author. His classic work, Think and Grow Rich, continues to inspire millions to believe and achieve and is a cornerstone of the modern self-actualization movement. Before passing, Hill established the Foundation as a nonprofit educational institution whose mission is to perpetuate his philosophy of leadership, self-motivation, and individual achievement.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure from the Napolean Hill archives Jan 2 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
It is strange that this book has appeared now, in a time of another great depression and new financial crisis, a time when millions of persons are struggling to survive financially and otherwise. From the other of "Think and Grow rich" here is a new masterpiece. What did Napolean Hill believe spiritually about the Devil? Was this some sort of imagination event or did Napolean really encounter at some level "The Devil"? While this book isn't really a religious book, there are some religious overtunes here.

I didn't realize that Napolean Hill had suffered a huge loss in the crash of 1930s, and that much of his life saving had been wiped away. Nor did I realize that Napolean Hill had plunged into a period of fear, and got mixed up with gangsters. Here is a man that build up a good fortune, only to see it sweep away in the forces of the time, but to reach down and build it again.

Sharon L. Lechter has formatted the material and put her own interpretation sections around Napolean Hill's work. Her effort has been very professional. The book flows nicely, the editing is polished, and her comments provide a nice additional layer of insight. I feel that Outwitting the Devil will in time become a standard like Think and Grow Rich.
