5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Barbecue Cooking---somewhat complex for the semi advanced chef@home, May 13 2012

I've had this book for several years now. I am anticipating the release of Ted Reader's "Grillin' & Chillin'" which has to do which beer and the BBQ, of course!

I have made many recipes out of this book, but the real winner for me was the recipe section for rubs, grilling spices, marinades and other assorted seasoning mixtures. They are simply fantastic. I have made all of them over the years and they are so good that I give little samplers away to my 'foodie' friends. The steak spice is wonderful---a VAST improvement over Montreal steak spice. Also, as I use the spice mixes, I learn what to add more or less of, so there is room for growth.

The recipes are somewhat complex, for a well-stocked kitchen and a chef@home who has quite a repertoire of tricks. I enjoyed it immensely---Korean BBQ was a huge hit with a large backyard party last summer! In my opinion, Ted is a Grill Master and it shows in this collection of recipes.

I bought this book and bought another for my brother. It has lots of recipes for spice rubs, marinade, sauces. and even tzatziki dip. Tried the salmon on a cedar plank last night and it was excellent. Most recipes have pictures and the book is almost 300 pages. Easy to follow, grat book and highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good recipes, but not for everyday., Aug 27 2009
I recently bought a Napolean Ted Reader grill and thought I would try the cookbook with the same namesake. Everyday Gourmet grilling implies that the recipes are qucik, easy, and tasty. When I got the book, I started looking for something to make. I honestly could only find a couple of recipes in the whole book that I actually had ingredients for. When the ingredients list has 10 or more different spices, it is not for every day. I managed to try a couple of recipes when I had time and they turned out very good, but I can't see myself opening this book very often.
