About the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan.  After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri (Mechanism). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture.  His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! March 25 2008
By BarbieMom - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I got this book for my daughter and she loved it! She read it over and over again. I read this after her, (I normally read what she reads) , and I, who knew almost nothing about Naruto, found this very inturiging. There are some characters my age, so I think anyone would like this book and the whole Naruto series!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe my expectations were too high Nov. 3 2008

Naruto is one of the best animes out there. Some people think it's not a "true" anime; well, whatever you want to call it, it's one of the greatest and most creative shows out there. Now for the book. I thought this would have a lot of background info on the characters that they didn't say in the show; it doesn't. But it's still a great gift for anyone who likes the series. It has a lot of the stuff from the show that was either skimmed over or was so long ago most people can't remember. It also has puzzles, games, and other goofy Japanese goodness (***this book is NOT WRITTEN IN JAPANESE). Overall it's definitely a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Info March 29 2012

This shows a lot of info about Naruto, and it reads backwards like normal manga. It has fan drawings, a conversation with Masashi Kishimoto about what inspired him to create Naruto. It also has the character profiles of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, and I think Iruka. It shows guesses on the nine rookies class grades, and many other things. I definitely recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mistakes in Printing???? Feb. 25 2013
By fancycook - Published on Amazon.com

I was really excited to receive this book and I love the information inside of it. I am a huge fan of Naruto, so it was a bit disappointing to find a few mistakes in there. For instance, in the one large picture of Gaara (my favorite character) they forgot to draw the tattoo on his forehead! There was also a quote that was from Hinata, but was listed as Neji's.There were others and a few typos, but most of the errors were little things that only picky fans will detect. Overall, it was a fun book to read.
