About the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan. After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri (Mechanism). Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture. His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

Okay, Naruto just keeps getting better, especially since Shippuden. There were a lot of back stories in this, which I appreciated, and it was definitely one of the saddest volumes to date. My one problem with this volume is the cover. I have this because of my desire to own all Naruto volumes, but if you are more interested in showing off the artistic covers I would choose another volume. But overall a job well done, Kishimoto-san!

5.0 out of 5 stars KATSU!!!!!!!!!!!!, Mar 3 2012

One of the best volumes to date. Not only is it very action packed, the story moves forward pretty good here. The art is an improvment too, its not as confusing in some panels like in some past volumes.

So without spoiling much, theres like three awesome battles here, some revelations, and good humor. Oh and my favorite Naruto villain is back!!!
