About the Author

Author/artist Masashi Kishimoto was born in 1974 in rural Okayama Prefecture, Japan.  After spending time in art college, he won the Hop Step Award for new manga artists with his manga Karakuri (Mechanism).  Kishimoto decided to base his next story on traditional Japanese culture.  His first version of Naruto, drawn in 1997, was a one-shot story about fox spirits; his final version, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, quickly became the most popular ninja manga in Japan.

5.0 out of 5 stars War... IS AN ART! ...hmmm...? Mar 29 2012
By DSTorre - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Naruto Vol. 55 is where the Great War begins. From the ready, set and go, its all in this volume. There are many battles here, and surprisingly, some ended in this book. Whats more than battles are the number of characters used. Almost all Naruto characters are featured here, some returning and some new. My complains in this particular volume are minor - Naruto isnt featured much, still no Sasuke, and as I said, too many characters, that it gets confusing at some point. And though they are introduced well, there are times one has to check back to remember a character's name or role.

My favorite part though is not the war itself but the conversation between Kabuto and Madara, but maybe its my love for villain vs villain. I cant wait what comes out of it!

The art if Kishimoto, just like other recent Naruto mangas, improved greatly. But unlike the past volume(54), there are parts here which tends to be confusing and chaotic, due to the nature of big scale battles.

I still like Vol. 54 over this one, but this is still a great volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular Mar 30 2012
By Emily Holmes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Kishimoto Masashi is just getting better as the years pass, and this certainly is no exception. Naruto volume 55 is probably one of my favorites yet. For anyone looking forward to the return of the brilliant pair Zabuza and Haku, look no further than this book. The art is magnificent and the storyline flows- the only thing I must say is that I need the next one!
