“The best birding field guide you can buy…National Geo 6 is now my default go-to guide. It is the design innovations that push this book to the front. You will not find a field guide that gives you better and faster access to the information it contains.” –Minneapolis Star Tribune blog
"Shelve all your other field guides for Dunn and Alderfer’s brand-new sixth edition, which leaps beyond previous editions, as well as all competition...Study it at home. Carry it afield. It has no peer."

Beginners will find it attractive, easy to use, and portable; intermediate and advanced birders will refer to it again and again with profit--and with surprise at how much it can teach even the most experienced among us.” –The ABA Blog

5.0 out of 5 stars For My Husband June 28 2013
By L.Roy
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My husband and I have a place in Southwestern Ontario and we have a back yard that backs onto a ravine so we get to watch the various animals and birds. Curious to know the names of many of the bird species, he borrowed this book from the local library and then kept renewing it. Since Father's Day was coming up, I decided to surprise him with the book and was he thrilled. He still tells people about what I did and how the book is amazing with the gorgeous pics and information. He keeps it nearby for a constant resource and will bring it back to the BC West Coast with us when we return for the winter. What a talented person/persons who put this book together.

5.0 out of 5 stars National Geographic Field Guide to North America Dec 30 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Since I am a birder, I consider this field guide the best. It's larger and more comprehensive than others and therefore more to carry with you but the information and clarity of photos is excellent. I usually recommend it to friends.
