Review

"This book is a thoroughly interesting read. The formulas are incredibly comprehensive. Best of all, each recipe is introduced by a little vignette. "-The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Times-Picayune

"You’ll . . . never pay high department store prices for creams and lotions that can be made simply and cheaply at home." --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a Nightmare!, April 3 2003
By A Customer
I haven't found a recipe in this book that has worked yet. Cleopatra's Milk Bath smelled TERRIBLE; the clove mouth wash anesthesized my mouth for about five minutes so that I couldn't even talk; the cold-process soap recipes were so lye heavy that I actually received chemical burns when I grated the soap and tried to turn it into liquid soap; the almond oil shaving cream turns into a runny white liquid that won't even stay on your skin long enough to run the razor through it. I haven't had success with a single recipe in this book and I make beauty recipes and soap ALL THE TIME. Please don't waste your money like I did--there are so many GOOD books out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for home made beauty products., Feb 19 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Natural Beauty at Home (Paperback)
Great for easy products, such as lip balm and hair rinses, but not scientific enough for making a professional quality moisturizer.

The ingredients are easily found in drug stores, or you can order them over the internet.
