This is a unique and enjoyable live show from the original Nazareth lineup. The sound is suprisingly superb , as well as the picture. Recorded in 1985, at a smaller London locale, it appears this is for television, probably BBC. I believe there can't be more than 100 or so fans from the limited views combined with crowd reactions to songs. As such, the concert lacks the live "excitement" one normally associates with a live performance. That is certainly NOT to take away from the performance of the musicians. They are quite spot-on. McCafferty's vocals are extremely clear and it's easy to understand every word he SINGS (oddly, his side remarks to the band or banter between songs seems a bit garbled). The band's effort is not lacking - it's just odd the lack of enthusiasm in the room due to lack of numbers. It's almost like seeing them at your local watering hole on a weeknight.
It's a short set, barely over 50 minutes of music, but the songs span from 'Loud 'N Proud' thru 'The Catch', with my personal favorite being "This Month's Messiah", probably because I've yet to purchase that cd. Another great moment is realizing that the live version of 'Hair of the Dog' has a talk-box solo by Dan on what appears to be bagpipes. If anyonr knows for sure, please comment. Enjoy!
