Dr. Barnard's approach is based on scientific results, is practical to implement and is easier to do than you might think at first. He has a great writing style, doesn't preach anything, and doesn't promote anything he doesn't have evidence of. I found that really refreshing.
If you are concerned about diabetes or heart health, read this book and give it a shot. Good luck!
The research and science outlined by Dr Barnard was solid and the conclusions made sense. Following the advice in this book has changed my life. I eat well, am never hungry unless my stomach is empty - and then it's real hunger. I am losing weight at the rate of about 2 lbs a week - and most importantly - my pain is gone. I highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with Type II Diabetes.
I no longer have to take my cholesterol pills. I was so surprised when the doctor came back
into the consulting room and said "I have a surprise for you!". No more cholesterol pills!
It's really true. I cut out the processed foods, animal products and that closed the door to cholesterol
problems. Of course I take B12 and other supplements, but overall the blessings are well worth it.
Would I recommend this work to others. I have already done so, and will continue to do so.
He actually followed the diet in Dr. Barnard's book, he became a vegan overnight. I assisted him with making meatless chili and salads. Within one week he noticed the wound was healing. It has been two months now and he has kept it up, which is amazing because he is not a disciplined person. The wound is 80% healed. The nurse that treats his wound at his house is amazed, his doctor is blown away and he promptly bought the book. My brother looks much better overall. He believes this book has saved his life.
just switching to a veggie diet is more then enough to handle...
A year and a half later my daily insulin has dropped from 20 units x 3 times daily to 6. The night insulin dosage has dropped from 58 to 26.
Certainly, for me this book was a life saver
