This book is great for beginners, who are unfamiliar with some of the different types of lace. Although no lace is gone into in depth, there is enough in each part to get you started and understand the differences. The illustrations are very clear, and I found the instructions quite easy to follow. It is only a little book, though, so don't expect too much. The one thing that really delighted me was the chapter on netting - how the fishermen used to do it. There Have been many times when I've searched for information on this topic and have come up empty.

Book is a bit disappointing. Hoping for more than just very basic instructions...that leave you only with more questions/issues. Not really helpful if you want to use to actually do any project.

HASH(0xa49fb00c) out of 5 stars nice overview, little depth (no pun intended) Oct. 14 2009

The depth I'm referring to is the content, of course. I like the book and I will keep it because there is really useful beginner's information on different types of lacing and netting, but I actually was hoping for a bit more instruction on how to do needle lacing.

HASH(0xa49fb2e8) out of 5 stars Just a dabble Dec 21 2009
By V. Richmond - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I liked this book because it introduces several types of needlework (especially the ones that are hard to find information on) however there is not enough information to really get started in the different needlework items. If it was more expansive it would be an invaluable reference.

HASH(0xa49fb810) out of 5 stars Needle-Made laces May 30 2014

I have a friend from Lebanon that does such lovely needle work. She invents her stitches--I am not so creative. This book gives me a large library of stitches to use for many types of needle lace projects. I am very grateful that this book was made available. I wish I had a book for MALON, the tape tablecloth technique made by women in Lebanon. It is absolutely lovely and durable.

love this book- I have not tried making anything yet- but it is the reprint of an older book and seems to be more accurate, specially in the historical description =- than any of the ones I picked up that are contemporary. Small book, nothing to loose, very inspiring!
