I hardly ever have problems with battery grips when shooting. In fact, I prefer shooting with them. I enjoy the greater comfort in my hands by having more surface area to hold onto the camera with my larger hands and the ability to shoot portrait without having one elbow sticking out into people's faces as I shoot at events and weddings.

I've had the same trouble with this as with all grips I've ever used (Canon and third party; used on Canon XS, XSi, 5DmkII, 5DmkIII, 6D and 7D). I am the type to shoot manually all the time for my camera and flash (though I have E-TTL and P/AV/TV modes, they aren't consistent, nor reliable). The problem I always face is at some point when the grip is in the "on" position, the main scroll wheel stops working until I turn the grip off. For me that can be very annoying, but I've learned to adjust.

For my grip the latch that is used for opening and closing the battery compartment is loose and the risk of it snapping off is great considering the latch plastic. My solution is to have gaffer tape on it so my sleeve or the camera strap doesn't get caught on it and break it off.

In terms of form factor, I do wish that the batteries could be inserted in and out like the grip for the 5DmkII/mkIII and 7D grips as it's simply quicker to replace batteries one handed, while holding the camera in the other hand. They are inserted from the back below the display rather from the left side. For me this grip also felt a little too much like plastic and the rubber did not match the rubber on my camera's grip. I got this grip knowing this weakness as I couldn't find another type for the 6D.

In general it worked as I expected.

Product arrived on time. I had a Vello grip for my 60D in the past but had to return it because it had a major battery leak issue. (as I found out later do many after market grips) The Vello grip looked and felt a lot better in my hands then the 6D Meike grip. The Meike feels a lot cheaper but I knew that and I since I do not make any money on my photography I could not justify the Canon price tag.
At a first glance it looks like the grip belongs to the Camera but a trained eye will notice almost immediately that this is not a Canon - even the black colour does not match the camera body, texture and feel of the rubberized areas is different too, no weather sealing whatsoever. The side door also feels like the battery compartment could fly out if I swing the camera too fast. It has not happen but the cheap all-plastic lock on the door worries me.

However, it does work. No battery leak, the AA battery compartment works perfectly and the grip itself attaches to the body very firmly, unlike the Vello which rattled a bit. Many folks seem to have an issue with the feel of the button - again, this is a cheapo knock-off product so it does not feel like Canon, not even close, but it's not too bad - the buttons work.

For me it will serve its purpose - having enough juice to shoot 5 - 6 hour star trails, and occasional prolonged shoots with the GPS and Wifi on. For studio shooters doing a lot of vertical portraits and wanting that perfect canon button feel - buy Canon. For off-road back country shooters that need at least some weather sealing - the Meike grip has ZERO protection - go with the
Canon.

When camera not in use - TURN OFF THE GPS! Leaving it it on will drain not one but 2 of your batteries completely.

I really like the AA battery pack as well specially when you're in a jam and all you have on hands are dead original Canon batteries.
You can get those AA batteries just about everywhere cheap nowadays.

This battery grip for the T3 works great. Been using it for over a month now and I have no problems with it.

The only downside of this is the make quality. It feels a bit plasticky and the lock is not well built. But I guess you get what you pay for and if Canon decided to make a grip but they didn't. Works well though for the price.

Recommended for T3 or 1100D users because you don't have a Canon choice.

Hey guys first of all, i love this product shot 2 weddings with it. The only problem I had is that the quick charger that you fill with AA batteries last only for about 400-500 pictures and the one withthe actual batteries last around 1200-1500 pictures which is great.!! I was wondering if anyone of you know where I could find another quick charger for the actual lpe6 batteries?
