Who Is This Book For?

What You Will Need
Through the use of numerous illustrations, we have endeavored to make this book as self-contained as possible. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that there is no substitute for hands-on experience. To fully practice the concepts explained in this book, you will need at least three Intel 486/66 (or better) computers with at least 32 Mbytes of RAM (64 Mbytes recommended), 450MB of free hard disk space, three network adapter cards, three mice (or other pointing device), four port UTP 10baseT hub, three sections of 10baseT twisted pair with RJ45 connectors, two VGA monitors, CD-ROM drive, and a 1.44MB 3.5-inch floppy diskette
drive. Also, you will need an evaluation copy of either Novell NetWare or Microsoft Windows NT. Optional equipment includes a modem or ISDN adapter, a printer, and a tape drive.

About the Examination
Step 1 is to register to take the Network+ examination.The online registration can be performed at any time day or night. Once registered to take the examination, you simply show up at the testing center at the right place and time. The examination is given at the Sylvan Prometric examination centers around the country. The folks at the number given have information about the costs, closest center, the center's hours, and availability.
