'The New Cook' simplifies and breaks down the basics to cooking. But what is even more helpful are the basics to what a kitchen should and may have from dry goods to spices to utensils and pans. It keeps it simplified without having to purchase everything. The pictures show excellent examples and there are short, yet to the point statements about the products used and what they do. The few recipes listed are not your basic spaghetti; they are above that yet they are able to be accomplished without burning down the kitchen and leaving your eyebrows in tact.
