Product Description

Lily Fox craves attention. Her amazing voice and ability to mesmerize the miners and lumberjacks in a mountain community saloon brings her more than the notoriety she needs. She draws the attention of the town's hotel owner. If she plays her cards close to her chest and becomes his queen of hearts, the wealthy Scot could give her more than she dreamed.

The day Lily Fox sauntered into his hotel with the poise of a self-assured woman, Declan Grainger knew trouble wasn't far behind. Stealing his heart was only the beginning...

Declan realizes that underneath Lily's flamboyant behavior is a frightened, insecure woman searching for stability and a proper place in society.

Declan aches for Lily's love. He can't ask for her heart without revealing his secret life. If he unmasked himself as Paradise Pines' allusive Night Angel, how would she react?

About the Author

Dusty bearded men in miner's boots and faded shirts, gamblers in fancy vests and frock coats, a ghost or two tossed in for good measure -- these are the characters who come to life on my pages. Mix them with strong, independent women of the Gold Rush era who delight and tempt their heroes to take a chance on love and, voila, it's romance. My husband of 43 years and I are fortunate enough to live in the Sierra Mountain Range of California where this colorful time in history took place. Exploring gold mines, inspecting the stately historic homes, and traveling through tunnels zigzagging underground stirs my imagination and brings reality to my stories. To write and create has always been my dream. Joining Romance Writers of America twelve years ago opened the door to achieving what I was born to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute delight! Aug. 23 2012

Night Angel was a thrilling adventure worthy of all the great westerns. The story captured the feel of the gold rush era perfectly. Ms. Kirkpatrick peppered the story with so many rich details from the era you will feel like you had actually stepped through a portal to those bygone days. This helped to immerse me completely into the story of Amalie Renard, a saloon singer on the run from her past. As the story opens, she runs directly into the arms Declan Grainger, Paradise Pines' hotel owner. He's got more than a few secrets of his own. The romance between them is an exciting stagecoach ride of tension and emotional turmoil. The many subplots keep you flipping the page as you try to keep up with her enthralling fast paced storytelling. The biggest mystery of all is who is the dashing Night Angel, combination Robing Hood and Lone Ranger all rolled into one. Night Angel has something to appeal to all readers. Simply put, you won't want to put this book down. Ms. Kirkpatrick's debut novel is more than a romance. It is more than a gold rush western. It is high adventure at its best!I can't wait for the second book in these series. I bet you won't either.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the read. Nov. 14 2012

I freely admit that Paisley Kirkpatrick is a friend of mine. I've watched her grow as a writer and it thrills me that she finally had her first book published. Her writing is evocative of the time, and her knowledge of the places she writes truly shines through.

Anyone who reads my blog/reviews knows my reading tastes range all over the damn place, but in my romance I like a little spice to the plot. The thing with Night Angel is that Amalie is sassy and sexy and Declan is yummy. I mean that in the truest, alpha-maley, sexiest way I possibly can. I want to gobble Declan up.

Not only that, but there's the cross between Zorro (you name the reincarnation I saw it) and Lone Ranger (ditto). One of my favorite plot devices and all too often ignored.

Over all I give this a solid 4 stars, with the highest recommendation of YOU MUST READ because it really is that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exciting Western Love Story Oct. 25 2012

Night Angel is a unique and compelling story with a hero who has secrets and a heroine who has a few, too. The town of Paradise Pines is filled with great characters, and Amalie Renard and Declan Grainger are but two of them. I liked Amalie because she is sassy, she is different, but she has a soft, vulnerable heart. Her relationship with her two sisters is an interesting part of the story, but the relationship with the hotel owner, Declan, really makes the story come alive. As the plot moves along, Declan is determined to help and protect Amalie, while she fights him every step of the way.
Jealousy, danger, distrust, and revenge--and finally love. The story has it all. I highly recommend Night Angel, the first novel set in The Paradise Pines Series, a former gold-rush community.
