5.0 out of 5 stars Underappreciated Jazz GREAT! Oct. 20 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I had never heard of Patricia Barber, but being a MoFi disciple, I had to have it!
I like Modern Coll a bit more, but this album smokes too :) Very senuous, ambient vibe on this lady's stuff. Very cool & understated.
The Sound? Oh yes the sound! Its an ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING. Need I say more?
Throw this disc in your system & start your own Nightclub. . .

4.0 out of 5 stars The Trio Completed April 3 2003
Format:Audio CD
Along with "Cafe Blue" and "Modern Cool," this CD completes the trio of new MFSL releases. I've always liked this, so it's easy for me to be extremely sensitive to minor improvements. In this case, advantages are measured broadly.
The SACD recording increases appreciation for an established CD and artist. It's worth a listen, and -- in my opinion -- worth the extra coins to upgrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Audiofile must have. Jan. 6 2013

A real collectable and out of print, as far as I know SACD. This format is still great but under threat by direct download and all those who think it is a waste of effort. Newsflash its not, those thinking downloads and streaming at 320 kps does such as masterpiece justice are wrong. I paid $130 for this disc and I understand that was cheap. Cafe Blue is the jewel in her crown but this one is a close second. The recording is 1st class as is her vocals. A firm 9/10 here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy the standard edition and save money¡¡ June 26 2005

I thing Mobile Fidelity is a great company and usually made reference recordings. At least this one is NOT a reference recording. The sound is just good, but the sound from the standard CD is good too¡¡¡ I'm an audiophile and I know what I'm talking about: this is not a record to die.
