3.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories. Sep 19 2009
Format:DVD
I believe this was originally a TV movie, so I can't really say that it was all that bad. Especially considering it was made in the 90's. By today's standards, the special effects are laughable. But at the heart of it, the story still touches the hearts of it's viewers (mostly, anyway) - myself included.

At the beginning, a son and his step-father struggle to find common ground. But one nights events of life or death twisters ripping through their town, destroying anything and everything it's path, and threatening the lives of the Hatch family . . . . slowly, as the family reunites, a stronger bond is forged.

I rated the movie a three for sentimental reasons, though if I had only seen it for the first time recently, I'd probably be more inclined to give it a two . . .

3.0 out of 5 stars i've seen worse Oct 11 2007

as TV movies go,this one is pretty good.the special effects are,for the
most part, well done.however, the film dwells not so much on the Twisters
which descend on as small town, but more on the dramatic area, such as
how the relationship between father(John Schneider)and son(Dewon
Sawa)changes throughout the course of events.it also deals with the
aftermath of the destruction. We do see some twisters, but not as many as
you might hope.a lot of the movie shows destruction taking place
without actually showing the tornadoes.the acting is a bit suspect, not
so much with main characters, but with minor characters such as the
newsman reporting on the weather.not very believable,at all.there are
also some dialogue issues, such as being corny, and clichéd,or downright
ridiculous.the way some of the characters(again, thankfully minor
characters)behave during the crisis and what they say is not realistic
for the situation. However, the film is still quite watchable and not at
all boring,so i give "Night of the Twisters" a strong 3/5

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Movie Jun 14 2007
By Doodles
Format:DVD
I have had a extremely long facination with weather extremes and although this movie didn't spend millions upon millions of dollars on special effects it still gets the point across. I let my kids watch this movie and they loved that it was told from the view point of a young man. It made them understand the movie better. Anyone who's been stuck in the middle of a disaster knows it's that strength of character is what sees us all through to the end. This movie is certainly worth viewing.
