5.0 out of 5 stars ok movie April 25 2012
By jj
Format:DVD
I rented this movie cuz scary movies are intriguing to try to solve and follow the story line and not get too scared. That's fun. This was movie wasn't as fun as i'd hoped it would be.First,I wanted to see Tom Felton(Draco Malfoy) in Harry Potter but i was dissapointed that Tom's character Gary dissappeared after chapter five. Also,I don't love movies where u have 2 use ur own imagination to guess what the creature looks like until the reveal at the very end of the movie.Plus, other than that small twist,it looked as if they left the movie open 4 a sequel as one of the victims looked 2 still be alive after being mauled in the neck by the creature. Will this character lead into a sequel? Not the best Tom Felton movie.I enjoyed his hateful portrayal of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter more :)T.Y.

2.0 out of 5 stars IT BITES April 28 2012
By Michael - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This appears to be a re-release of the 2010 film called "13 hours."

Sarah (Isabella Calthorpe), who has been away from home for a long time, returns to England from LA. The house is being remodeled. We are introduced to Duncan (Simon MacCorkindale), Sarah's stepfather. There are some bill issues and mom is away for...? but will return in a couple of days. She is accused of keeping a boyfriend and draining the family of money. Sarah joins her brother out in the garage/barn where we are introduced to the rest of the gang. She has 3 brothers: Steven (Peter Gadiot),Charlie (Gabriel Thomson), and Luke (Antony De Liseo). Doug (Joshua Bowman) is a playboy and a friend of the guys. Emily (Gemma Atkinson) is Steven's girlfriend, formerly Doug's girlfriend as so crudely pointed out by Gary (Tom Felton)another party animal.

After we get the basic idea of who all these people are, under a full moon and a power outage, the drunk stoned party moves to the big house with flashlights and candles....only to discover the terror that occupies the house. (If you have read the title or looked at the cover, you got a good idea what is there.)

The creature makes noises that sound like "Predator" apparently an easy noise to duplicate as all the horror films have gone to it. The "night wolf" moves through the house by jerking around an infra-red camera. The movie was a fairly good idea that was poorly executed and suffered from the lack of decent special effects. I thought the support cast of Tom Felton and Gemma Atkinson were great. Isabella Calthorpe left much to be desired.

F-bombs, sex talk, no real nudity. Pot smoking, drinking.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly a dog,.... Dec 29 2012

Rated R; Contains the expected Violence and Gore along with some Nudity, Adult Situations, Adult Language, and Drug Use.

This is another low budget science fiction, but is a bit better than most that suffer from a similar budget because the acting is better in this one, not fantastic, but better than the average B movie. Where it fails is more in the writing and directing. Not that they are bad, but the writing is pretty much predictable with only a couple (not so) surprises in store. You can see things coming before they happen. The directing was less imaginative that it could have been also. But then, it's easy to pick it apart after the fact, so perhaps, instead, just simply watch it for what it is, a werewolf movie. It is fairly enjoyable. I have it rated a 3, but it a just little better, say 3.5, because Amazons 3 means "it's okay" which to me means, I could take it or leave it. It's a little better than that. In other words I'm not sorry I watched it and while I wouldn't say I "liked" , which is what the 4 rating is, I would say it's worth 1 watch, and I might watch it again someday. But liked means, to me, I'll remember it for some time, and I don't think it's memorable. A 5 star movie is one I will remember at least parts of for long term. I wish Amazon had a 1-10 rating system.

Isabella Calthorpe stars as Sarah, who returns home to England for a visit after a long absence. We get to meet all the siblings and other guest who are all pretty much party animals, animals is operative with some, and move to the party. Then, of course the predictable storm, power outage, lack of phone service and so on. After the party moves to the main house, we meet the beast. There is a secret soon to be revealed, but I bet you can, GASP, guess what it is without much thought, or seeing the film. Still has some fairly good scenes and the cast does a good job executing their respective roles.

The creature effects were not bad, not great, but not bad. I (and I expect you) have seen much worse. Would I recommend it, yes either rented or bought cheap, say < five bucks shipped.
