The premise of the book sounded good but the story did not live up to it. I found the heroine of the book too naive, too annoying, and very unlikable. To actually write a heroine just riding along with the man she thinks was sent to kill her, barely putting up a fight, then making love to him because she was so "drawn" to him and maybe she could convince him not to kill her made me lose all respect for this character. I'm all for a good romance but I do need some realism to it and it's no way I can believe that a woman would want to have sex with a man that she thinks want to kill her and rationalize it as working out their issues after having sex. From there the story just went down hill to the point I found both lead characters annoying and stupid.
The hero of the story was never truly fleshed out because my guest is the author was trying so hard not to give away his identity. The problem with that is that you guessed his identity very early in the book so the rest of the book were left with the dumbing down of the heroine in order for his identify would be a shocked when it was a reveal and the hero of the book going from being angry to nice to angry to nice to angry.
I can clearly tell this is the author's earlier attempt at writing because her later works are so much better. I would not recommend this book. I would recommend a reader to try some of her later works.
