This is a fantastic game. I've been a fan of Pokemon games since red and I have to say they've done a bang up job translating the series into three dimensions. The tweaking is enough that the mechanics and gameplay can be drastically different, but still so much fun. Or if you're feeling nostalgic it can be played like any classic Pokemon game. The inclusion of so many other generations pokemon and the variety of pals to chose from is fantastic. Plus Megaevolutions!

I did order this 3ds game for my son and he said this is his best pokemon game. So I do recommend this game. I do have 2 sons and pre order the 2 games 1 for each boy and they were very impressed.

You will NOT be disappointed in this game! The first entries (along with Pokemon X) in Generation VI is nothing but pure amazing. Seeing all your favourite Pokemon in 3D battling, evolving is awesome. I have always been a Pokemon fan since I was 8 years old (I am now 24) and Pokemon is (in my personal opinion) the best games ever! Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are among the greatest Pokemon games released since the original Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Silver & Pokemon Crystal. Every game is great in the series don't get me wrong. lol I would HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone. Nice and simple, take your time, or be competitive and battle online. The all new Fairy type helps balance the over powered Dragon type and the all new Mega-Evolution is all included in Pokemon X and Y.

I have noticed a lot of people give flack about the lack of post game material. To me, that doesn't matter, they did an outstanding job bringing the world of Pokemon into the 3DS! Maybe the next game (whether it be Pokemon Z or Pokemon X2 & Y2 or whatever else may come). But for those who haven't played since a certain generation, I would highly suggest playing this game.

This game proves that Pokemon is no where close to ending anytime in the near future and I can not wait to see what they release in 2015 and beyond. (since we already know Pokemon Omega Ruby & Pokemon Alpha Sapphire are out November 2014). :-)

So if you have ever played a Pokemon game back in the day, or played every single game up until now, play this game, it will not disappoint! :-)

My opinions and I stand by them! :) lol (had to say it)

This review is from someone has loved all the Pokemon games since Pokemon Yellow. No, I don't think Gen 1 is the best and all other Gens are bad. Each Gen has its good Pokemon and then the not so good. Pokemon Y is no different.

Despite the new character sprites and 3D effects, its still old-school Pokemon: You gotta catch 'em all to be the best there ever was. There's still 8 Gyms to battle and 4 Elite Four Members to take down. The actual Pokemon in the game are a mix of the previous Gens and the new ones. Breeding/trading are still the best way to finish the PokeDex and so on and so on.

The new stuff is pretty exciting too. There a new way to level up your Pokemon's stats via cool mini-game that's kind of like a cross between soccer and boxing (you'll see). You can alter your clothing at boutiques and make 10 second Trainer video for other people to view. Mega evolution is a great new addition to battles, but its limited to only a few Pokemon. Pokemon Amie lets you get up close to your Pokemon and play with them. There's more but its better you find out for yourself.

The story is nice and kind of sweet. The main protagonist is forgettable as usual and the climax isn't as climactic as previous games, but its still decent.

Overall I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the Pokemon franchise and highly recommend it to anyone who's played past games.

(If your a die-hard Gen 1 fan: get over yourself! Your missing some great games cause of your nostalgia. I mean come on: Exeggcute is literally five eggs with faces on them and it evolves to a coconut with three faces -___- that's just as bad as an ice cream cone with a face)

Pokemon Y is an amazing game within the series and displays how far the series has gone since the first games, red and blue. The graphics and music are some of the best. Different ways to find certain Pokemon also create a more realistic environment, and for the first time character customization is available in-game (though I wish there were more choices for hair styles). The only downside would be the slight lag time during full 3D battles, it isn't as noticeable once you grow use to it but can be a bit annoying at first. The storyline is okay when compared to Pokemon Black and White (my most favorite storyline within the series thus far). Sadly, there are also less new Pokemon this generation than any other generation, and the 2D graphics that pop up every time you battle regular trainers, gym leaders, the elite four and the champion can get really annoying.

Graphics: 4/5
Music: 5/5
Storyline: 4/5
Overall: 13/15
