Nintendo 64's highly acclaimed 3D platform hit Super Mario 64 arrives on the Nintendo DS with all-new features that take full advantage of the new portable system's dual screens, touch screen and wireless multiplayer capability. New characters, stages and puzzles await players. In addition to Mario, players are able to play as Yoshi, Luigi and even Wario, each of whom has different abilities integral to collecting every last one of the 150 Power Stars hidden in the castle and grounds. Play through Adventure mode, engage in tons of new touch-sensitive mini-games or battle up to three friends in Wireless Versus mode, which you can play with only one DS Game Card. The top screen displays most of the principal action, while the bottom screen is used for mini-challenges, control functionality (such as analog stick emulation), and a map/radar screen for battles.

Super Mario 64 is one of the staples for Nintendo 64! The problem is; You can't get them anymore (Unless you order online), since Nintendo has stopped manufacturing them.Super Mario 64 DS is kind of like an expansion to the original game, since there is 3 new characters, and 30 new stars (Too bad most of the stars are just put in old levels, and there is only a few 100% new stars). There is also a whole new selection of mini-games, and they are very addictive, and quite fun to play (To unlock more mini-games for each character, you need to find rabbits). The multiplayer in this game is horrible however, the settings are locked (30 seconds, everyone starts as Yoshi, 3 Caps, 5 Stars), and 3 stages were NOT made for this, the only one is Battle Fort (Why didn't they put a Multi-Card co-op mode in this? I don't see why not!). Saving is great, you can save anytime you want to (Outside of a level), by pressing START, and picking Save/Quit (Or whatever it is). However, the controls are not very good, there is 3 control modes (Standard Mode, Touch Mode, and Dual-Hand Mode). The only decent control mode is Standard Mode, which uses the Controller Pad. All the others are difficult to use sometimes, especially when the bottom screen scrolls when you run (I.E. Goomboss Battle). The multiplayer mode and the controls are the only flaw though, and they're completley avoidable, if you just choose Standard Mode, and just AVOID multiplayer. 5 stars for fun 5 stars overall (You can avoid the bad parts of the game)

This game is definitely worth having for your DS, especially if you ever enjoyed playing the original 64 version. The controls are a little off without being able to use the joystick, but the use of multiple characters makes the gameplay a bit more interesting. Not a game that I will play from start to finish without putting it down, but definitely a fun game to break out for a few hours for a change of pace and a trip down memory lane.
