As a long standing fan of the Pokemon series and an avid player of RTS and TBS games I was naturally ecstatic when I heard of this game's existence. It's a refreshing spin on the Pokemon name-brand and brings a new battle style and plot to an otherwise overworked frame-work that Pokemon has subsisted on for over a decade now. Fights are more similar to Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem than standard RPG fare that the series is used to and trainers are limited to one Pokemon at a time.
One of the big things in this game, and thus one of it's issues, is that trainers all adapt to and use Pokemon in different ways of varying effectiveness. While it's fun to go searching for Pokemon to make perfect patches for every unit it's also the reason that the entire Pokemon roster isn't present in this game. Granted, there are far too many Pokemon in existence at this point, however some people might find their favorite didn't make the cut, or doesn't play well with their characters if it did. Take that as you will, I didn't find it to be too much of a bother but some people might.
The game plays well and fighting over territory with Nobunaga is a great way to spend some time, taking and re-taking castles while fortifying your front line. All in all, it's good fun for any Pokemon fan looking for a bit of fresh air or even people looking for their first foray into Turn Based Strategy games in general due to the game's easy-going and lighthearted manner. Great game!
