Amazon.ca Product Description

The first Pokemon title for Nintendo GameCube offers players two paths, a storyline (RPG) mode and 3D battle mode. A new lead character in the story mode helps you rescue Pokemon that have been captured by an evil entity that is misusing the Pokemon for it's own benefit. It is your mission to "snag" back the Pokemon from this evil entity - you can't just catch the Pokemon in the traditional sense, you have to rescue, nurture and bring back their true spirit so they are ready to battle for you. Now you will be able to engage in powerful and magnificent battle scenes like never before. Special Features: In the battle mode, the player can upload all 200 Pokemon from the Game Boy Advance games Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire to battle against friends on Nintendo GameCube - up to four players can compete against one another in the battle mode. Battle in Single, Double & Multi Battle modes inside rich 3D environments that are more elaborate and intense than any other Pokemon game.

This new offering from Nintendo is not the same as previous efforts. It is a combination of the Gameboy systems adventure play as well as stadium battling. BUT beware that in order to multiplayer battle you need Gameboy Advance, cables and games to play head to head. Colosseum itself will not play head to head with the Gamecube controllers. Additional, Colesseum does not offer "rental" pokemon to battle with. You need to capture any Pokemon you intend to battle with. You and a friend can not simple select 6 pokemon to battle. You have to import from a gameboy for one player and use the captured Pokemon for the other player. You can not just multiplay quick battle. We called Nintendo and it seems this was the way it was meant to play.
In its favour though the graphics are good and the tunes are fun.
I strongly recommend you rent this game first before you purchase. You may find it is not for you.
