This is one of my favorite vocal jazz CDs. It is, subjectively, the best-recorded female voice recording I own - in terms of clarity and body. I have owned it for over 10 years, and yet each time I cue it up, Laverne delivers. And I smile. The essence of Laverne's beautiful voice is captured without making her sound like she stands fifteen feet tall! The selection (of mostly standards) is very well balanced between ballads and uptempo tunes. On all but the worst sound system, this CD will delight. On a good system, Laverne will entertain you.

I bought this album after hearing Laverne Butler sing one of the songs: "Make Me Rainbows". Her rendition of it was warm, and classy. I found to my delight that she sings all of her songs that way. I thoroughly enjoy this album and listen to it often.
