My parents had seen this mini series when it came out on TV years ago so I was looking to buy the DVDs for my dad who loves all things Civil War. I saw the set here on Amazon.ca for approx. $60. Then I found it on Amazon.com for $20!!!! and the Canadian dollar is stronger than the US dollar! I really don't understand why things in Canada are so much more expensive, I know we are all accustomed to that being the case but come on, TRIPLE the cost!?! Anyhow, we Canadians can't order from Amazon.com but when I saw the price difference I refused to be gouged like that. Especially considering the CDN $ is worth more than US $. So I found it on eBay instead. If I had not found it on eBay my other option would have been to get my sister from Calif. to order it for me...message to Amazon.ca...there's no way I'll buy something from you for triple the cost.

The first 2 discs are of excellent quality and present North and South with visual clarity--the third disc should not be sold. It is grainy and appears to have been filmed by a different process.Does no one view the end product before releasing it to the public?

Finally it is here! North and south on dvd. I'm so glad. I have been waiting for years to be able to own all three books (book 3 has never before been available). I have enjoyed watching these miniseries since I was a child. It is surely one of the best stories I have ever seen. The friendship, the love and romance, and the struggle of war are all magnificent. A group of very well casted characters. I will cherish it for years to come.

north and south memories
it is exactly as i remember. watched this as a series on tv when my girls were small. loved it then and love it now. thanks

Well written and very nicely presented. It part of our history, we must know as much as possible.The end lokks as though the producers were getting tired. It is very abrubpt.

I have never felt more drawn to a movie as I did this one. The saga is heart wrenching, stirring, and also heart warming! What a wonderfully acted piece of history!

A wonderful epic
Just a wonderful series with great actors/actresses. One of the most important era's of our lifetime told in a captivating way. Couldn't get enough of it!

Dissapointing
Many of the scenes from the original TV version were skipped. If the viewer didn't know the story, it would of been confusing.
