Unlike the companion books "Northwest Native Arts: Creative Colors 1 & 2" this is NOT a child's coloring book! This book gives detailed instructions on how to draw the ovoids, the "u", the split "u", the "L" and the "S" shapes needed to create artwork like the Northwest Coast Native American artisans do. If you are looking for a down and dirty "how-to" book, this is a good place to start. However; if you are looking for an in-depth analysis of the symbology of the Northwest Indian arts this would not be a good book for you.

This book is awesome! I saw it at the library at the Huibulb Culteral Center on the Tulalip Reservation in Washington (beautiful museum, if you're ever in the area it's worth a look if you're into Pacific Northwest Native art and culture), and it was just a great book to use for referencing shapes to make your own Pacific Northwest tribal art.As an aside, I just bought this from Powell's Books for $9.99. I get that it's out of print, but how did the price get so inflated in the Amazon Marketplace? That's $100 difference, so if you're interested in this book you might consider shopping around the web for better prices.
