Product Description

Album Description

Nothing Is Wrong captures both Dawes' studio and stage approaches, matching the loose extemporaneity and crunchy dynamism of the band's live sets with finely honed arrangements and deft musicianship. The album evinces the band's self-assured strength right from the start by bursting off the blocks with the impossibly infectious "Time Spent In Los Angeles." Throughout the record, Goldsmith's lyrics evoke a powerful feeling of constant movement and endless fleeting moments. Songs like "The Way You Laugh" or the choogling "If I Wanted Someone" are wistful and melancholic, while the ruminative, piano-driven closing track "Little Bit Of Everything" (featuring pedal steel guitarist Ben Peeler) is peopled with indelible characters encountered on his travels. A must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Of 2011, July 12 2011
By M. Seery - Published on Amazon.com
I really hate to ruin the demographics for this band but I am 61. I am a huge fan of Mumford and Sons and just became a fan of Dawes too. This is a superb album. The craftmanship is excellent and the lyrics are memorable. I can't wait to see these guys when they play on the Santa Monica pier.
I grew up with the 70's music scene and it is great to hear groups going back to that amazing period. Dawes - keep up the work!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome album., July 2 2011

This review is from: Nothing Is Wrong (Audio CD)
Dawes is a great band. One of the few bands keeping my faith in modern music alive. "North Hills" is a classic and "Nothing Is Wrong" stands solidly at its side. "Nothing Is Wrong" has markedly nicer production than "North Hills" and a handful of new classic anthems that will certainly be an important part of the Dawes catalogue for years to come. However, I have to say there are a few tracks I find myself skipping over when listening to the album. It's not that they're not good songs, it's just that they're a little slow sometimes for my taste and don't have the same hook, energy or teeth that some of the stronger songs on the album do. This is my one criticism and the only reason I can't give the album a full five stars. Basically, there's not a bad song on this album and there are a few truly great ones. My new favorite is "My Way Back Home", epic. Buy this album if you dig good music!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing follow up to North Hills, July 5 2011

This is a group of musicians that not only are in complete and totaly sync with each other, but they also know how to get to the heart of their listener. Flawless harmonies, warm sounds of the organ, and Taylor's sweet melodic voice make this album a 10... and that's out of 5 stars. I wasn't sure what to expect with this album; I didn't know if it could live up to the pedestal I have put their first album, North Hills, on (actually, it was just called 'Dawes' when I first purchased it, but that's neither here nor there). This album has surpassed every expectation I had. Buy it. Listen to it. Love it.
