Now! Steps It Up,
By Daniel (Kelowna, BC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Now! 9 (Audio CD)
Last year when Now! 8 was released, I made comment about how the compilation had stepped it up a notch, and how by adding more hip-hop added to the overall enjoyment of the disc.Well, with Now! 9, they've done it again. The latest Now! disc looks more like the American version of the set, with songs by the likes of D12, Chingy, Hoobastank and the Black Eyed Peas. The set also includes hits by Hilary Duff, Michelle Branch, The Vines and blink-182. And, of course, no Now! disc would be complete without the Canadian acts; in this case, Nickelback, Nelly Furtado, Barenaked Ladies and X-Quisite, to name just a few. The disc is, to say the least, loaded with hits from the past year, whether it be Norah Jones' smooth jazz sounds on "Sunrise," Jet rocking it out on "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?," or Sam Roberts taking the "Hard Road". Now! 9 has something for everybody. Complete Track Listing: 1. Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl

OK, I guess,
This review is from: Now! 9 (Audio CD)
This isn't one of the better Now! albums, but it's still good. Some songs are really good, but some just go on and on and it gets tiring. I'm into rock, so I like the rock songs on here(well, duh!) Some songs I like are "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" by Jet,"My Band" by D-12, "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good" by Nickelback, "Ride" by The Vines, "Testing 1, 2, 3" by Barenaked Ladies(although I would've expected better from them), and "Sunrise" by Norah Jones. This is a good CD, but, like I said, it's not a truly classic Now! CD.

dissapointing at best,

I have to disagree with my friend Dan, the series is not getting better, but progressively worst after each release. Not every song on this compilation is bad, but please... Hilary Duff?? The Vines?? or one of the weakest BNL tracks ever?? The disc could have been improved because there was much more great music that would be worth it, i have every Now! disc from 1-7 and i don't find myself in a rush to get either of the last 2, just a fact that they've been getting worst.
