Book Description

Sept. 1 2000
This book combines the fun of a treasure hunt with the satisfaction of first learning ABCs! Children discover clues hidden in the playful rhymes, then hunt for magnetic letters and puzzle pieces. A built-in magnetic board folds under the right-hand page so children can make words and pictures that solve the riddles. The right-hand pages are also write-on, wipe-off surfaces on which the children practice their letters with the special marker provided. The left-hand pages unfold to reveal solutions for matching and spelling. Written by a kindergarten educator, this book features capital and lowercase letters as well as short and long vowel sounds. The authentic Zaner-Bloser handwriting system teaches children to write their letters with arrows. Included in this package: 52 uppercase and lowercase letters; 26 four-piece puzzles; Spiral-bound book with fold-out pages and hidden answers; Box with pullout storage tray; Write-on, wipe-off pages and marker with eraser for practicing letters; Built-in magnetic gatefold.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is a keeper... Nov. 8 2003
Format:Spiral-bound
I bought this book to encourage my 4-year old son to begin letter tracing. He already knew his alphabet by sight, but I couldn't find anything that interested him...as far as being able to write/trace the letters. We have several wipe-off marker type books. This is the only book that has captured his attention long enough to want to trace the letters. He likes that the wipe-off marker that is included has an eraser tip. He also likes all of the puzzle pieces and letters that came with the book. They are fun to dig through while he tries to find the matching letters to go with each picture. It's like having a treasure hunt.
I like that there are so many different levels of learning in this book, and it really is just a lot of fun! I wish I had one when I was little...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves This Book! Jan. 24 2001
By A Customer
Format:Spiral-bound
I bought this book for my 5-year old daughter who kept telling me she wanted to learn to read. We have spent hours having fun with this book! She was ready to start stringing sounds into words, but now that we've been working with this book, she's actually beginning to READ. She spells words with the magnetic letter tiles and practices writing them on the dry erase lines. The beauty of this book is that it is so versatile, you can use it for those who need to work on letter recognition, and those who are beginning readers. I liked it so much I bought one for a friend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective and Entertaining Sept. 28 2000
Format:Spiral-bound
This book is chock full of activities and will keep your pre-school and /or kindergarten child occupied for hours. It includes a rhyming riddle and a clever magnitized board on which to assemble a puzzle for each letter of the alphabet. I loved that the author gives suggestions for three different ability levels. As a teacher this book definitely will be part of my phonemic awareness program.
