Even if we know the story inside out, it's a lot of fun to see it happening on our big screen. Excellent acting and great atmospheric qualities.

John Lennon had one Hell of a life. Talk about someone who saw and lived thru the peeks and vallies. This film is about his childhood. It basically ends where the other amazing Lennon bio pic starts (that would be backbeat). The writing in this film is excellent. The acting perfect and the subject matter fascinating. This is not about the Beatles getting together although Paul McCartney and George Harrison are represented in the film. This is mostly the story of Lennon's Aunt Mimi who raised him and his mother who, from everything I have read defiantly had some mental health issues. It's about a boy that feels like he has been abandoned by his parents and he is struggling to find out why. I don't want to go into too much detail. If your a fan you probably know his story already and if you arn't I don't want to wreak the film for you.The film is a lot more enjoyable if you know a bit about Lennon and have seen some interveiws. Like in the film Where he gets his first guitar and the man says "it's guarantied not to split". Lennon mentions this sales pitch a few times in documentaries. Laughing at the fact that this was the best selling point of the Guitar. Whoever wrote this script really knew his Beatles info. Like George Harrison auditioning for Lennon on a bus. They even got the song right that he auditioned with. But again I do want to stress you do not have to be a fan. This film is basically the story of the human spirit and how we have to pick our selves up and try again no matter what life throws at you and Lennon had a lot thrown at him. If you want to hear a bit of what Lennon thought of his childhood and how it effected him pick up his "Plastic Ono Band" CD. Besides being a great album it's songs deal with a lot of this subject matter. Especially the song "Mother"!

I saw this film with a friend of mine who is a Lennon's fan and he considered that the film reflects truthfully Lennon's early life. In my opinion, the performances are outstanding. Don't expect awesome soundtracks at all, the film is essentially biographic, but it definitely worth it
