Product Description

Review

"This is a delightful, colorful, and informatively packed text with a wealth of information on almost every aspect of nursing. It is an easy read with entertaining cartoons interspersed in each chapter. It provides very practical tips on passing the NCLEX exam, preparing a resume, and interviewing skills. It also includes a historical view of nursing, and the legal, ethical, political, and on-the-job issues facing the profession today."
- Vicki Ann Moss (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh), Doody Review Services --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Book Description

"Touches on many of the issues affecting nursing...Every nurse will benefit...With a true focus on the dynamics of the health care environment and how it affects the profession and individual nurses, the authors pull everything together...Rather than just a textbook, this book will be a handbook for nursing awareness." --AJN (review of previous edition) Reflecting rapid changes in the field, the fully updated 2nd Edition prepares graduating nurses for entry into the health care systems and keeps novice nurses on track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Important Read for Nursing Students Entering theProfession, Jan 9 2002
By
Traudel B. Cline (Waukesha, WI United States) - See all my reviews
This book includes pertinent topics for nursing students and nurses in practice in the 21st century. Topics such as collaborative practice, conflict resolution, effective communication, managing change within the health care setting are clearly imperative skills that nurses must have. The authors have chosen a writing style that is friendly and easy to read. The importance of humor is stressed through the chapters, but is also present in the form of cartoons/caricatures and delightful illustrations. Nurses often take care of others without tending to their own needs. The authors stress the importance of self-care and nurturing, as well as, assertive communication, strong interpersonal relationships. This is truly an excellent read for nursing students and current nursing practitioners. It is highly recommended especially in today's ever-changing health care environment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stuff you already know...", Feb 17 2009

This review is from: Nursing Today: Transition and Trends (Paperback)
This was required reading for a nursing class. I diligently plugged through the Chapters but there was not a lot of "valuable" new information. It provides some history of nursing and related figures but most of the guidelines are common sense. Unless you have to buy it, save your $$$; however, I will say the authors of this book have put out some GREAT mnemonic flash cards for a variety of nursing topics (meds esp) which I LOVE and use regularly so def. check those out!
