Somer, a dietician, discusses the Healthy Woman's Diet, offering advice on eating to maintain health, reading labels, and dining in restaurants and fast food establishments. She also provides information on nutrition during pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, and athletic competition, as well as diets for specific diseases, i.e., diabetes, arthritis, and various cancers. Although The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Complete Book of Nutrition ( LJ 11/1/90) provides more comprehensive coverage of clinical nutrition, this book is an excellent source for its intended audience. Highly recommended for consumer health collections.
