Product Description

"Card's latest installment in his Shadow subseries…does a superlative job of dramatically portraying the maturing process of child into adult…. Card makes the important point that there's always more than one side to every issue. Fans will marvel at how subtly he has prepared for the clever resolution."  --Publishers Weekly, starred review, on Shadow of the Giant

Shadow of the Giant is a fitting and satisfying continuation to the Ender series, although it is not a conclusion. Card...seems to indicate that he will at some point return to follow Bean's family and the other Battle School Children as they expand throughout the galaxy.”  --SF

“Once again, Card keeps the action, danger, and intrigue levels high...paves the way for further Ender-Bean developments; and leaves his readers eagerly awaiting them.”  --Booklist on Shadow Puppets

OMG Awesome! Oct. 23 2011
By Casiotone - Published on

Somewhat embarrassing admission, given the target audience of this book: I don't have kids.

Somewhat saving argument, given the previous admission: I have a wife who loooves Jim's Pancakes (the site this book is based on).

"OMG Pancakes!" is in this weird place where it's "sort of" a recipe book, "sort of" a set of IKEA instructions, and "sort of" a coffee table book, but work as all three. All of these "sort ofs" add up to one awesome book that turns breakfast into a combination of building blocks and art.

I have yet to have someone take a look at this book and not go, "Oh this is amazing! But how did he... ?" The creations are fun, funny, and the perfect thing to keep around to surprise your kids (or, in my case, your inner-kids).

I want pancakes..... now :) Jan. 24 2012
By LadyInRead - Published on
Format: Paperback
I love making food in shapes that will fascinate my kids and make even boring foods fun. Decorating the plate to make it fun to eat is a big thing with me and when I saw this book, I had to read it - pancakes (already a favorite at home), made in wonderful ways!
This fun book is chock-full of ideas to make pancakes way more interesting and fun than they already are and also make them a thing of art. You can apply the concepts to other foods of course and make eating a whole new wonderful experience. The book includes 75 fun pancakes and shows with detailed photos and illustrations how to make and plate the pancakes.
Jim started out making pancakes for his daughter and when he started his blog, it became hugely popular - this book is a result of that and I am glad this book is here!
