This is the second purchase of this item - the first one was such a successful gift for my daughter that I decided to follow her recommendation and get one for myself.
This is a great item - makes the BEST EVER mashed potatoes,
Can highly recommend the OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer.

This is great for smaller quantities of potatoes. The grips were firm and easy to use. I did not use it for a big family dinner at Thanksgiving with a lot of potatoes to mash. A very good tool. OXO Good Grips Good Grips Potato Ricer

Very easy to use, nice fluffy potatoes, just the right size compartment. If it were any bigger, it would be too big for my pots. Cleans up nicely in the dishwasher! Great quality, seems like it will last a long time. Had mine now since December & has been used many times. Cleans easily, much faster & easier to use than a regular old masher.

Does a great job of potatoes, a bit messy though. Wish the pressing edge hasa silicone seal. Would make it a lot better

Takes a while to do a pot of potatoes, but it is worth it in the end no lumps just creamy mashed potatoes.

The finished potatoes were perfect in texture and I didn't even need to add milk because it was so evenly mashed.
Also worked good for cauliflower but takes more strength to squeeze through.
There are some reviews stating you can leave the potato skin on. Don't believe it. You have to peel the potatoes first. The skin never crushes so it can't pass through the holes. All it does is plug the holes up and you have to remove it before continuing.
Even though I thoroughly boiled the potatoes until very soft, I saw the handles bending as I squeezed. I don't know how long this will last as the metal fatigues with each bend. They should have beefed up the handles more. I had no problem squeezing but my wife didn't have the strength to bring the handles together.
