Super salad spinner,

This is the first salad spinner we have had and it is great. The spinning action is a plunger motion as opposed to a crank action variety. I've tried the crank arm variety and one with a pull out string. The good part about this one is that you push down to make it work rather than twist which is really good if you have some issues with wrists or elbows (the torquing motion that those whose suffer from those afflictions will know). Irrespective, it dries the leaves perfectly, especially if you do it more than once. The brake feature seems like a gimmick but actually works and allows you to empty the water and then do a second time. We bought the steel version and it comes with a rubber base that keeps it on the counter while spinning. It makes the dressing that much better because it is not diluted with water.

This is a heavy duty, nice looking salad spinner... and effective! The stainless bowl is solid with a nice finish and a no-slip base. It's easy to use and does a very good job at removing water from greens quickly. I purchased this to replace a plastic one that was "hit and miss" when it came to spinning. This spinner mechanism engages every time - the first time, which is a nice change! The plastic basket liner has a nice 'flex' to it which leads me to believe it will last a while (without snapping or cracking).

I was a little worried about all the negative reviews but it was on sale and cheaper than the plastic version and I decided to take the chance as even the people with negative reviews said that OXO helped them out. So far so good. Works so well, gets the greens so dry and looks beautiful! I'm happy.
