All of the Asterix stories feature references to Obelix falling into the Druid's Cauldron of magic potion when he was about six years old. This was the event through which he derived his phenomenal physical strength. Here is the full story of how it happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Obelix fell into the...., Aug 12 2001
By Peter Szakacs - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Asterix: How Obelix Fell into the Magic Cauldron When He Was a Little Boy (Library Binding)
I love this book!! It's not a comic book, but it tells you everything about Asterix's and Obelix's chlidhood, including that how Obelix fell into the magic potion. Asterix tells to the children Obelix fell the whole story. There are lots of full pages and 2 full pages pictures in it, and there are 10-12 lines text for every illustration. There are 32 pages in the book. The cover page isn't worked out, but the other pictures are great!!

This book is a rip-off. A very short narrative with typos. Don't waste your money. They spent more effort on the front cover than the contents!

2.0 out of 5 stars WARNING --- this is not a comic book (graphic novel)!, Jan 19 2000

This review is from: How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When He Was a Little Boy (Paperback)
I'm a big fan of the Asterix series, but I kind of expected this to be a typic Asterix "comic book". Instead, it's a text with illustrations! Yes, it's a nice story about when they were all kids, but I like the comic book format! This is more like your typical children's book! I was disappointed with the overall result! Besides, all through the series they mention how Obelix fell into a cauldron of magic potion when he was a baby, and that's how he got his permanent strength. But this book implies he was more like a little boy of 6 or 7 years old --- NOT EXACTLY A BABY! Anyway, I can't recommend this one!
