1.0 out of 5 stars Clumsy and disappointing, May 26 2000
By Greg McElhatton - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Oblivion (Paperback)
Dave Stone's past works have always been witty, fast-paced, and mind-bending; it's with that in mind that OBLIVION is all the more disappointing. Characters are thrown into the mix with no rhyme or reason (other than, it seems, to have a reunion of all surviving characters from Stone's SKY PIRATES!), the plot thuds along, and the resolution is dull as dishwater.

A book about trying to avert the destruction of the universe should be exciting. Instead, you're forced to read about a formerly married couple bickering non-stop while unnecessary characters stop by for no particular reason. Watching paint dry is distinctly more interesting.

The description of OBLIVION sounded wonderful; the execution, unfortunately, is anything but. Stone is capable of a lot better than this.
