5.0 out of 5 stars a faithful interpretation to the story, May 19 2006
By
susan (Buffalo, New York) - See all my reviews
People who dislike the movie, dont understand its meaning. They lack the ability to observe the meaning behind the "old" musical choices which then wasnt so old, considering the age of the film itself. They also lack the ability to appreciate the importance of the little dialogue used. It was done this way to emphasize the few words that were spoken so that the viewer would understand deeper into Peynton's character. Great short film, definately a classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome French Film, Mar 14 2003
By A Customer
In my opinion, the short film, "An occurence at Owl Creek Bridge", was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I admired the filming style and the unique way the director put everything together. The surprise ending was brilliant, and if you look for clues, you may be able to tell the movie is going to take a twist. The silence of the movie added to the film's unique presence, and adds to what is going on in the prisoner's mind. The small amount of music used was just enough to key you in to the prisoner's emotions and feelings from scene to scene. I highly recommend this superb adaptation of Ambrose Bierce's story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Generation, Mar 7 2003
By A Customer
I am a high school English teacher but I also remember watching this movie as a freshman MANY years ago. I always make it a point to share the movie with my students, taking the time to watch parts of it twice so that they can see how cleverly the "clues" are hidden. My students grumble and complain about the fact that they have to think to discover thet truth, but they always appreciate the story. But be prepared if you share the movie with others--they often want you to tell them what is happening instead of waiting to think it out on their own.
