Given the pace of Michael Jackson's post-Thriller release schedule, it's striking that Off the Wall appeared between two albums with his brothers, Destiny (1978) and Triumph (1980), on which the twentysomething phenomenon was also fully engaged. the songs on this album, together with "thriller" hit me right there, everytime i hear "don't stop" or "rock with you" & the title track..... this was michael at his absolute peak, basically, he WAS dance music in the '80s......totally brilliant.

Back in the day this record was all over the clubs. A SOUL CLASSIC and Michael's best dance record. So why does EPIC have to gum it up with commentaries? Put that kind of stuff on a separate disc if it must be included. This kind of stuff is all too prevalent in remastered reissues. Record companies should just LEAVE IT ALONE. Put out the reissues the way they were intended. I just wanna hear the music, man.

What can you say about MJ that hasn't been said? Back in the early late 70s the kid went solo, and he could really sing, really dance, and like a lot of people I feel he was a looker and didn't need any work on his face, but what can we do now? 'Off The Wall' is his solo debut and its Wacko at his best. Quincy Jones creates largely jazzy grooves, although the two most famous cuts are the floor movers 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' and 'Rock With You'. This was how MJ was supposed to be. Good time party music before he started trying to save the world. An essential & Must Own album.
