the songs on this album, together with "thriller" hit me right there, everytime i hear "don't stop" or "rock with you" & the title track..... this was michael at his absolute peak, basically, he WAS dance music in the '80s......
totally brilliant.

Back in the day this record was all over the clubs. A SOUL CLASSIC and Michael's best dance record. So why does EPIC have to gum it up with commentaries? Put that kind of stuff on a separate disc if it must be included. This kind of stuff is all too prevalent in remastered reissues. Record companies should just LEAVE IT ALONE. Put out the reissues the way they were intended. I just wanna hear the music, man.

the album was Michael coming out party the album was his chance to put the music out that he wanted us to hear it included a lot of disco music this showed Michael's ability to keep up with the times it also showed everyone who doubted him to keep up his fame as a artist despite his growth one of with classics like "Don't stop till you get enough " Michael showed why he would later on be known as the king of pop

Amazing album. I wish I had lived through the 70s, and 80s and also about half of the 90's. :(

There is nothing but praise for this album. So happy that it is part of my collection. I can only keep repeating myself and being truly honest Michael was ahead of his time with his creativity and song writing. It was a shame that he won only one Grammy from that album.

Probably the best MJ album, at least the funkiest one. Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad are the ones to have in your collection.

Off The Wall is very different from the next albums Jackson would release, it has more of that 1970's disco/funk/pop song sound to it (that sound about right), it sound very different from the 80's pop sound Michael became famous for. Here Michael was just a largely enthusiastic 21 year old ready to set the world on fire, and he did. People tend to forget that Off The Wall was considered a success; it went on to sell over quite a few million copies. Thriller's is Jackson' s best known work and rightfully so but Off The Wall is a very enjoyable and different album, to some MJ's first mature solo effort (his earlier solo records were released when he was much younger) is his best one (in fact producer Quincy Jones is very clear that OTW is his favorite work completed with Michael). This was Michael's first big break from the Jackson 5/Jacksons, he really set himself apart with Off The Wall, and Michael was in a league beyond his brother's in terms of music. Jackson put out some great music with his brothers and was always the main focus of the Jackson 5; it was only a matter of time before he became a star on his own.

I really do like the songs on OTW. The title track is insanely catchy and I love the disco sound, the song just grabs you and never lets you go. Rock With You is a slower paced song and to me is probably the most memorable one due to it's fantastic video. Don't Stop `Till You Get Enough shows incredible energy and I feel it's one the highlights of MJ's career. The funky, high-bass Get On The Floor is an excellent groovy song. The Paul McCartney written Girlfriend is obviously the weakest song here, I was never a big fan of this one, it may sound sad but to me it's very much filler material and is the weakest song here.
