Book Description

December 2002 Destroyer, 16
The Middle Eastern state of Lobynia had been supplying oil to the U.S.A. for years, but when Colonel Baraka takes over from the king after a coup, there is a change of policy - and the cut-off of oil threatens the whole American economy. Baraka has big plans - but they bring him big trouble. First there is Remo, whose brief is to get the oil flowing again before American industry grinds to a halt. And then there is Chiun, Remo's Korean friend and teacher. Chiun's family holds a centuries-old contract to protect the kings of Lobynia - and Chiun takes his responsibilities very seriously...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Book is Average for the Series April 3 2013

The book is average for the series. I've read 1 through 16 in the past 3 weeks. The most unfortunate aspect of the past 6, or so, is that the promised "improved" editing, by the new publishers, is so much worse than the predecessor's editing. Sometimes, there are even incomplete sentences. But, outside of the incredible amount of violence in this series, there is also an incredible amount of fun, much of it good-natured. My goal is to read all 160, or so books, in the next 2 years. I think I might average 20 per month, but, I do need to read some other stuff as well, so 20 might be too much to actually hope for. All I can say is, I am addicted to the adventures of Remo and Chiun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best Nov 26 2012

This one seemed a little short in the mayhem department. Still good for a rainy afternoon. One of the problems with these books is the fact that they were written as satire on current world events. Sometimes I don't remember what they are referencing.
