Product Description

2013 release, the 21st studio album from the Rock legend and his first album since 2010. The album is a collection of some of Clapton's favorite songs spanning from his childhood to present day that highlights his vast appreciation and knowledge of music. From Leadbelly to J.J. Cale; Peter Tosh to George Gershwin; Hank Snow to Gary Moore and Taj Mahal, this record is a celebration of so many who have inspired Clapton's rich musical life. Clapton has always had a remarkable ability to recognize great songs and a gift for knowing how to uniquely interpret them, as he does on Old Sock. The album explores romantic standards of the 30's, Reggae, Soul, Rock, and includes a stand out playful collaboration with Paul McCartney, to create an experience that is quintessential Clapton. Old Sock was produced by Eric Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon Climie and features two original songs "Every Little Thing" and "Gotta Get Over. "

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow April 24 2013

Just Wow! Reminds me of 461 Ocean Blvd and the Delaney and Bonnie Years. Clapton at his best and is that really his children singing? Beautiful, so beautiful. A happy family man. So glad he is still playing..

I love Eric Clapton but for me this was just too much of mix of song genres. Every song was done well but I didn't like all the country songs mixed in..

5.0 out of 5 stars Eric Clapton does it again April 7 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am a fan of Eric Clapton and have been for years. This CD is another excellent recording of his. His rendition of 'Still Got The Blues for You' by Gary Moore is excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great new Clapton album March 24 2013

An interesting mix of songs; I like it better than his last effort. I do wish, however, that he had a bit more anguish in his life so that he would write more heartfelt music - he's starting to sound like Paul McCartney.

Great album. Dripping in nostalgia, which if you are a Clapton fan you'll love. Easy listening with some interesting covers as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Clapton being Clapton Jan. 15 2014
By Alden
Format:Audio CD
The last Clapton CD I heard was Back Home, and it was dreadful! This one is not much better. An impressive list of guest musicians, good sound and production, but quite boring and ordinary. This time around he has taken a bunch of old songs and made a CD out of it. No original compositions, didn't Rod Stewart do this?
It appears that Clapton has become content with just being Clapton, much like the Stones have done. Nothing new here, same old tired licks. At least Jeff Beck still puts out interesting music, and takes chances. I'm just glad I borrowed it from the library and didn't waste good money on something so mediocre.
