Girl Seven is a beautiful book from Omar Dogan, one of the founding members of Udon.

It's a collection of good-girl pin-up art, or playful girls depending on how you see it. There are seven girls designed by Omar Dogan featured in various themes that have them in different costumes, like uniforms, furry outfits, sports wear, etc.

The illustrations are gorgeous. The are printed large to the edge of the page. It's one girl per page, but towards the back are illustrations of all the girls together. I like the costume designs especially the more elaborate ones from the Gothic theme.

Every coloured illustration comes with the pencil work and commentary. You can see the dramatic difference after colours are added. Most artwork use a smoother colouring style that's unlike the anime cel-shading style you see in the cover art, although there are a few at the back.

Great book recommended to fans of Omar Dogan and pin-up art.

If you are a fan of Omar Dogan's work, this book is for you!
.
This book is unique because it chronicles Omar Dogan's improvement throughout 1 year. As you progress through the book, you will notice the gradual evolution of his art and the different techniques he uses.
.
The book contains over 90+ images of beautiful art. Each chapter involves 7 girls doing a variety of activities in various costumes and outfits. Each image comes with the original line work used to create the piece and a small blurb about it. Some pieces hide Easter eggs and homages for fans of his work.
.
Each girl in the book has a unique personality. You get to really know them as you progress from chapter to chapter. Ultimately, you also get to see how they interact with each other in the final chapter. At the end of the book, you will have a favourite girl.
.
My favourite aspect of this book is reading Omar's thoughts on his pieces. I enjoyed reading about what was going through his mind as he drew each piece. Omar is pretty humble and honest with the reader. At times, he admits that the faults of certain pieces and how they don't live up to his expectations. It is rare that an artbook is so honest with it's reader.
.
The book's print quality is very high and the images are sharp. Unfortunately, there is hard cover version.
.
Overall, I think this book is a must buy. Whether you like Omar's work, anime, or art in general, I think this is a worthy addition to your bookshelf. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and hope to see a sequel to it.

Perfect Quality and Content! April 25 2012
By D. McFadden - Published on Amazon.com

I am an Artbook collector and can be quite picky when it comes to these things. Being a fan of Omar Dogan's style, I was very exited to see that his "Girl Seven" book was being released. While I had no doubts that the included art would be of great quality, this book went FAR beyond what I expected and is currently the highest quality artbook I own. By far.

The best way to sum the book up is this:
-Full color pages.
-Most pictures are on their OWN PAGE and in crystal clear clarity, without a border. That means the majority of the images are 8x11 inches in size!
-Each image has its lineart and Omar's commentary included on the back of the page.
-Cool Character bios and great artist information is included but they do not take up very many pages. About 95% of the book is pure artwork and it's respective lineart/commentary.

By buying this book, you are basically buying a stack of perfect quality 8x11 art prints, that's the only way to really say it. I can't even imagine how much that would cost, not considering it isn't even possible since many of these images are only in this book. If you have seen any of Omar's work on Deviantart or elsewhere and like his style, buy this book.

Perfect quality, perfect clarity, perfect size, perfect price, it's just the perfect artbook.

Outstanding April 25 2012

I have been anticipating the release of this book for quite some time and was thrilled when I received my copy a few days ago. Despite the fact that I had already seen a fair amount of the book both from Omar's broadcasts on blogTV and his deviantArt page it just doesn't compare to having the book in your hands for you to fully appreciated. The quality is everything I was hoping for and more.

There is quite the hearty helping of cheesecake, but as a female I must say that I found myself drawn in by the designs of many of the outfits and the amount detail in each of them. As is mentioned, from start to finish this book is a chronicle of Omar's progress as an artist over the past year or so. After finishing my first run through of the book I found myself flipping back and forth between the first and last chapter just to compare and I'm still in awe at how much he's pushed his abilities in such a short amount of time. Don't get me wrong, all the work in here is incredible but last chapter is on a whole different level. That itself is a testament to the huge amount of effort that was put into this book and I hope that we'll be able to see such progress again with the creation of a second book.

If you're looking for a quality art book for a great price, you've come to the right place.

Girl7 Delivers! April 24 2012

This is the pinnacle of Omar Dogan's works! Instantly an UDON classic!

I am impressed with the quality of the pages and overall feel of the book. I enjoyed the glossy bits on the cover and the back.

Getting to know these 7 girls over more than a hundred illustrations was a real treat. There is literally page after page of amazing illustration with commentary by Omar. I believe you couldn't find all the easter eggs in this book with a whole week of solid searching! I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys anime, UDON works, or just fashion in general!

I am looking forward to Book 2!

Omar Dogan's Girl 7 An Artbook that is worth every penny April 25 2012
By soldatcrinale - Published on Amazon.com

I am a big fan of udon artists from Stanley Lau to Jeff Cruz and to of course Omar Dogan. I have been following Omar's artwork on Deviantart for quite some time now. He announced an artbook that he was going to release under Udon. When i heard about that my mouth was watering to get my hands on this book. When it was about Omar's creator owned Girl 7, my interest piqued even higher. I received this book yesterday and had a time to go through and here is my review.

Artwork- A+
Yeah this is a no brainer. Not being biased here whatsoever. The Man's work is flat out amazing. All of these women came out straight from his brain and hand and they look this good. I have been on the art scene for quite a bit of time(i am a art collector)and what i feel the mark of a great artist is that they can conceptually draw what is in their mind and refine it to what you have now. The artwork is stupendous. Seeing the characters in different subjects like work outfits, sports, action, etc is amazing since it all came from Omar. Anyone who especially likes pin up work will not be disappointed as all the girls are cute and sexy.

Content- A
Omar did something here that not many artists do in their artbooks. he gives a full description about each and every single piece of artwork in there. He will tell you about the piece and what he thinks of it. Its one thing i truly appreciate because it is always nice to hear what an artist has to say about their own work. I also like the fact that he went and did all their character profiles with a rating grid to gives the 411 on all 7 girls. have to say Lydia is already my favorite.

There is really not much to review in a artbook but this one is a must buy whether its at 25.45 or its MSRP of 39.99. The book is loaded with content and the artwork is of course flat out amazing. If you like Omar Dogan, than you will definitely get your fill in this book.
