Our daughter is 3.5 years old and she started to get up really early and come into our room thinking it's time to get up (between 4AM to 6AM). We got this clock and she quickly learned to stay in bed until it was glowing green. Now, she is happy when it starts to glow and let's us sleep until at least 8AM when we can (let's be honest about when we can sleep in until!). One downfall is that our daughter slept through the glowing green alarm and it turned off (I think it only glows for about 30 minutes) so she was very upset when we tried to get her up because "It's not green yet!" LOL. Anyway, great product. We also like the fact that it doesn't have cords so there is no fear of her strangling herself with it. Also, it acts as a nighlight too and she likes that she can press the leg and it comes on if she's scared.

I purchased this clock last week, and have been very impressed.

The clock is well-made and entirely battery-powered (4xAA batteries), so there is no risk of electrical cords around the child's bed. Our 2.5 year old son almost immediately figured out how to use the night light feature, and he loves it. Furthermore, our son grasped the concept of "waking up to the green light" really quickly. I haven't had it long enough to be able to comment on the battery life expectancy, but given how much our son seems to be liking this clock, I suspect that this is a fairly minor issue.

A quick comment on the setup: it was remarkably easy to get going. Adjusting the wake-up time is identical to how one might set the time on a regular alarm clock. I figured out how to do it in about 10 seconds without having to read the instructions; that said, the clock also comes with well-written instructions in case you (somehow?) get stuck.

(I'm giving it 4/5 stars, only because I haven't owned it long enough to say how well it will withstand the test of time. So far, it seems really solidly-built, so I think it'll be fine.)

My 2.5 year old was waking up anytime between 5-6am and calling for us right away. Once we started using this clock (just the colour changing function, not the audio alarm), he immediately got with the program. He always waits for the clock to turn green before he calls us and often now spends time playing quietly in his room even after the clock has turned green. We now often don't hear from him until 7am or even later, although we set the clock for 6:30am every morning. I think the best thing about the clock is that it gives our son back some control. Before, he would have no idea what time it was when he woke up, and so would just call. Now he knows whether or not it's too early, and can make his own choices about what to do.

The clock has plenty of great features we don't use, like the nap timer. The one extra feature that has come in handy is the auto-off, which decides how long the green light will stay on. It defaulted to 30 minutes but we have reprogrammed it to stay on for 2 hours, which lets our son sleep as long as he wants and still wake to the green light.

I suppose if I wanted to list a con or two, it would be that the back is fairly easy to open, so we have to keep it out of reach of our son. But overall this clock is perfect for anyone with a toddler who wakes too early. It is also quite expensive for a little plastic gadget. However, I would gladly pay it again for the peace it has brought to our mornings.

If you are looking for THE answer... This isn't it. It's cute, but it only works 50% of the time at our house. We find ourselves saying " did your light turn green? " over and over again. It's a nice thought. Great in theory.
